Waterloo Gardens partners with ALS Hope Foundation to benefit research for incurable disease
Friday, March 28, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Waterloo Gardens in Exton
will host an evening fundraising event for the ALS Hope Foundation. Live music,
refreshments, and a silent and live auction are included in this philanthropic
event. Don Tollefson, the Sports Anchor for the Fox 29 News and the founder of
"One Child Saved," a non-profit motivational program to benefit disadvantaged
children, joins Waterloo Gardens as the emcee and auctioneer for the night.
Last year's proceeds raised more than $50,000.00 towards ALS research.
Waterloo Gardens dedicates these efforts in memory of Roberts (Bo)
LeBoutillier. Bo Leboutillier, former President of Waterloo Gardens, Inc. lost
his life to this terrible disease in the fall of 2001 after suffering with ALS
for over eight years.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal, neurodegenerative disease
that attacks nerve cells and pathways in the brain and spinal cord. When these
cells die, voluntary muscle control and movement dies with them. Patients in
the later stages of the disease are totally paralyzed, yet in most cases, their
minds remain sharp and alert. ALS struck Yankee Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig in
1939. He died two years later, but ALS is still commonly known as Lou Gehrig's
disease. ALS can strike anyone and roughly 5,600 people in the United States
are diagnosed each year.
Waterloo Gardens was founded in 1942 by James and Anna Paolini. The company
has remained a family owned and operated business with Linda LeBoutillier as
CEO (daughter of James & Anna Paolini), Bobby LeBoutillier as President, and
Susan LeBoutillier as President of Waterloo Landscaping, Inc. by Design. Now
open in four locations throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware, the store carries
the area's largest selection of annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, and outdoor
furniture, and also boasts a large variety of garden supplies and accents,
gifts, home decor, and collectibles. In addition, Waterloo is home to the
landscaping design and build service, Waterloo Landscaping, Inc. by Design. For
