James and Anna Paolini opened the first branch of Waterloo Gardens in 1942
at the present Devon location. It is situated in an affluent area of the Main
Line on two acres with along-the-street customer parking as well as additional
parking across the street. The Exton property was purchased in 1959, consisting
of a 44-acre corn field and an adjoining six acres along Route 30. Its sole
purpose was to grow nursery stock for the Devon store, but when the area
developed from rural to suburbia, a garden center was opened in 1970. The
Paolinis retired in 1972 and sold the business to their daughter, Linda
LeBoutillier, and her husband, Bo.
Waterloo Gardens, Inc. is still owned and operated by the LeBoutillier
family, with Linda LeBoutillier as CEO, Bobby LeBoutillier as President, and
Susan LeBoutillier as President of Waterloo Landscaping, Inc. by Design.
In over 60 years of operation, Waterloo Gardens has grown tremendously. It
is one of the top ten garden centers in the country and is the largest and most
diverse in the Tri-State area. Our two locations in Devon and Exton,
Pennsylvania have become a Main Line gardening tradition. A new Waterloo
Gardens Outdoor Furniture store opened in Wilmington, Delaware in Spring 2007 at the
'Concord Gallery' shopping center and a new full garden center
opened in Warminster, Pennsylvania in November 2007.
Waterloo boasts the area’s largest selection of annuals, perennials, trees,
shrubs, patio furniture, and much more. It is also your one-stop-shop for
garden supplies, garden accents, gifts, home decor, and collectibles. In
addition, Waterloo is home to the landscaping design and build service,
Waterloo Landscaping, Inc. by Design.
We invite you to stop by and explore our stores. We always look forward to
small and large groups of visitors. Guided tours of our stores are always
available from one of our expert employees. A visit to Waterloo Gardens, Inc.
is not another shopping trip, it's an experience.
