Waterloo Gardens is building new traditions, expanding offerings, and reinvigorating the community: 70 years and still growing
Exton, PA. — April 25, 2012 -- Waterloo Gardens, the region's premier garden and gift center, kicked off its 70th Anniversary with an Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, April 21st and Sunday, April 22nd at both the Exton and Devon locations.
Waterloo Gardens, owned and run by a local family, has been a part of the ever-changing community landscape for generations. Many families have been a part of the success, from the members of the community to the extended Waterloo family who have been loyal customers for years.
There were giveaways at both stores to the first ten customers each day, including sturdy canvas tote bags. “I love Waterloo, and I can’t wait to use it!” exclaimed one of the lucky customers to have received a bag. Children were thrilled to receive free popcorn, balloons, stickers, and temporary tattoos. The special promotions, including products selling for $19.42 (the year Waterloo opened), 2 for $70, and 3 for $19.42, were a big hit!
Then Chick-fil-A arrived, giving out 150 sandwiches at each store. Everywhere you looked, there was someone snacking on a sandwich! The Chick-fil-A Cow even made an appearance, and tons of community members took advantage of this fun photo opportunity.
Lynn Dunn, Vera Bradley Representative, made selecting a new Vera Bradley bag fun and easy. She guided new friends through choosing the best handbag for their style, along with the best patterns. Nancy, Waterloo’s Facebook fan, posted on their timeline, “Happy 70th Anniversary Waterloo Gardens! I love shopping there! Also a huge thank you to the Vera Bradley rep who made my daughter so happy with all of her news, photos, and gifts.”
The Dia Doce cupcake truck came to the Exton location and had a wonderful reception! The line was flowing on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, and there were lots of happy faces chowing down on the famous cupcakes that won Food Network’s Cupcake Wars in March! The truck was unable to attend on Sunday due to rain. They do, however, plan to come back at a later date.
Whirled Peace Frozen Yogurt also was a big hit among the young and young at heart! A generous portion full of flavor created buzz throughout the stores. There was also a tremendous assortment of toppings to add to the tasty frozen concoctions.
Bishop Shanahan High School’s Jazz Band drew in a large crowd to the Exton greenhouse. The talented band created an atmosphere of fun and whimsy, causing people to completely forget about the pouring rain outside! Everyone enjoyed the swingin’ music.
Waterloo Gardens also received a great honor, a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, commending them on celebrating their 70th Anniversary Celebration. Bobby LeBoutillier, CEO of Waterloo Gardens, said, “We are honored to receive such recognition from the state of Pennsylvania. My family and the employees were pleasantly surprised when the package was hand delivered on Saturday afternoon.”
Lauren LeBoutillier, Visual Merchandising Manager, said, “My grandmother [former CEO, Zelinda LeBoutillier] would have been so happy to see the community coming together and celebrating this tremendous occasion. She was a wonderful businesswoman, incredible leader in the community, and loving grandmother. My family wants to thank everyone who made this weekend a success! We appreciate you extending your family and accepting mine as part of the community.”
This fun event for the community drew in large crowds and created excitement as Waterloo Gardens kicked off the celebration for 70 years! To continue the celebration, Waterloo Gardens is having a ‘Tell Us Your Story” contest, with the grand prize winner winning a $500 Waterloo Gardens gift card!
